Phases

How It Works

1. Discovery

During our first meeting, we begin the process of getting to know one another. We want to understand you.

  • What’s important to you?
  • What are your financial goals?
  • What are your current retirement concerns?
  • What investment strategies are you currently pursuing?
  • Is your retirement income positioned to rise?
  • Do you have an accurate understanding of the risks you are taking?

2. Planning & Strategy

  • In preparation for this meeting, we will prepare a written retirement plan for you with your specific goals in mind.
  • We will stress test your written plan against 1,000 different potential market and economic scenarios over your lifetime and present you with the results.
  • You will receive specific recommendations based on our findings. In many cases, our recommendations focus on reducing risk.

3. Decision & Implementation

  • By now, you will know us and we will know you. We can both decide whether we are right for each other. Because our time is limited, we can only take on a few new clients each year. If we decide to go forward together, we will coordinate the implementation of the agreed upon strategies.

★ You will only pay us an advisory fee should you decide to work with us going forward. There is no fee for the work we’ve done for you up until this point.

4. Execute & Monitor

  • We monitor your financial status on a regular basis to help ensure that you are on track toward achieving your goals. At times, we may suggest modifying an existing strategy or developing a new one. This is how we strive to align your evolving needs with an ever changing world.

New Clients

Our Pledge to You

Upon completion of your first year working with us, should you decide that you do not wish to continue the relationship, we will refund all of the advisory fees you paid to us. (You should refer to your contract for specifics regarding this refund.)

Choosing The Right Retirement Advisor

I’ve given thought to just about every retirement issue that exists over the past several years. As Chief Client Officer of a major investment firm, I’ve interviewed scores of retirees and the professionals who advise them. Along the way, I earned a Masters in Gerontology, the all-encompassing study of aging. Then, after 31 years at my company, I decided to retire, too.

3 Common Documentation Mistakes That Retirees in Richmond, VA Can Avoid

As Retirement Advisors, we are in the business of helping clients enjoy and finance their retirement years. In a surprising number of cases, we discover problems with key documents. These include Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts and Advanced Health Care Directives, and more.

Should Your Retirement Investments Be Giving You a Raise?

Would you keep working at a company that didn’t give you a raise for 30 years? Over time- your income needs to grow because your expenses are likely to grow. Today a couple aged 60 will likely spend over 30 years in retirement. During that time most of your expenses will rise. We find that some retirees focus only on the growth of their assets when they should also be focusing on the growth of their income.

Does Your Financial Advisor Pass the “Nine-Way Test”? The Answer Might Surprise You

Have you ever wondered what you should really expect from your financial advisor? If you are fifty or older and have $500,00 or more in retirement, investment, and savings assets, we believe you should expect your advisor to:

Retired or Planning to Retire Soon? Why Are The Headlines So Scary?

It’s hard to fight genetics. For millions of years, our ancestors roamed the savannahs, searching for food and trying to stay alive. Humans learned that if we miss a potential meal, there will be another opportunity. But miss a lion, swishing his tail in the grass, and you may be the meal. Its baked into your biology, you are more likely to react to danger than opportunity.

9 Investment Pitfalls

The financial markets reached record highs in 2017, reflecting a growing economy. Complex weather events and political and global developments emerged, making the environment challenging for investors to navigate. Experience has taught us that successful investing requires discipline and patience. A long-term investment focus can help when emotions run high.
